About the Concert

In January and February 2013, New Century will undertake the ensemble’s most extensive national tour to date, with performances in Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, and Michigan. Before the ensemble departs, Bay Area audiences are treated to two special Tour Kick-Off concerts with a program featuring Metamorphosen, Richard Strauss’ 1945 masterwork for string orchestra inspired by the anguish and destruction of World War II.
